Monster Acquires Affinity Labs

Monster Worldwide Inc. has acquired Affinity Labs Inc., a San Francisco-based operator of online professional and vocational communities like PoliceLink.com, FireLink.com, and TheApple.com. The acquisition is expected to improve Monster's community features and to increase its advertising customer base. Christopher Michel, president and CEO of Affinity Labs, will join Monster.com and report directly to Sal Iannuzzi, Monster's chairman and CEO. The deal was valued at $61 million in cash. Currently, Affinity operates seven career-oriented networks, which include law enforcement, healthcare, education, government, and technology, among others.
