Market Development Representative
Located in Santa Monica, CA.
As a key member of the Content Solutions team based in our Santa Monica office, you will identify, contact and qualify customer prospects across a high volume of brands and agencies in a consultative, team-selling environment. You will perform extensive brand research to inform customer outreach and sales strategy.
The brand appetite for content is greater than it has ever been. Google reported that the number of searches for “content marketing” have increased 500% since January 2011. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role on a team with the culture of a growing startup within an established digital media company.
Our solutions range from comprehensive content strategy and the creation of original content (articles, videos, original photographs, GIFs, infographics) to the development of custom, fully managed web experiences and distribution through a preferred network.
Responsibilities:
Identify and segment key prospects at mid- to large-sized brands and agencies using resources like AdDatabase, TheList, SellerCrowd, LinkedIn and more.
Utilize a combination of email and phone outreach to grow the sales pipeline by driving large quantities of quality leads.
Meet and exceed minimum target activity and lead generation goals. Hustle and moxie will fuel your success.
Reach beyond just the blue-chip brands; uncover and contact high-quality leads from mid-tier brands with marketing dollars and a story to tell.
Evangelize our content offerings to our prospects. Be consultative and tell our story while listening to their needs, goals and measures of success. Listen, understand, and be an asset to your contacts.
Understand and address prospect objections; pursue every opportunity to establish a meaningful conversation with key decision makers and showcase our offerings.
Establish pursuit strategies and re-engagement tactics for key decision makers. Find the right path to reaching prospective customers.
Partner with Sales leadership, Market Development and Business Development leads to ensure successful transitions between prospecting phase and qualified appointment stage.
Be an exceptional steward of the Demand Media brand – you are on the front lines, and are the primary touchpoint between Demand Media and our prospective partners.
Requirements:
1-3 years of experience in sales or sales support in digital media industry.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fearless attitude; no prospect is out of reach. Be relentless, be bold, and aim high.
Team player with a great attitude; insatiable desire to go above and beyond.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
