Pasadena, CA — In spite of news of layoffs and a looming economic recession, marketing professionals don’t have it as bad as many may think, according to MarketingCrossing (www.marketingcrossing.com).
MarketingCrossing, the marketing field’s fastest-growing job board, with more than 40,000 marketing jobs, including positions for marketing directors, marketing coordinators, and communications managers, among others, has found that the past week brought close to 4,000 new jobs to the marketing industry.
The weakening economy and recession fears have led to job losses in numerous industries. According to CNN, the job losses during the first quarter of the year are the worst in five years. Job losses have hit many industries particularly hard, with manufacturing losing 52,000 jobs, construction losing 39,000 jobs, and retail losing 34,000 jobs.
Despite these dismal numbers, however, the marketing industry is going strong, with thousands of new jobs having been added to MarketingCrossing in recent weeks.
Supporting these findings, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics projects marketing to be among the industries with the largest numbers of new jobs between now and 2016. Marketing managers will account for the largest number of new marketing jobs between now and 2016, with a projected increase of about 12%. On the whole, the marketing job category is growing faster than average, according to the BLS.
MarketingCrossing reports that the largest concentration of new marketing jobs is in California, with more than 7,784 marketing job listings. New York has the largest concentration of marketing jobs on the east coast, with more than 3,400 marketing job listings.
