The Assistant Athletics Director - Sports Information would be responsible for administering all components of sports information and game day operations for York College’s 17 sports, to include the communication and distribution of sports-related information to local, regional and national media outlets, the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and NCAA offices. Additional responsibilities include game day media operations, preparation of game notes, live broadcast, streaming of games and maintenance of statistical information and being a sport administrator as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Position:

Serve as the official statistician and game-day administrator for all York College home contests as well as coordinate with fellow Sports Information Directors to get accurate statistics for all road contests and story posts.

In collaboration with the Director, manage all teams’ schedules, officials’ payments, game contracts, all team travel and travel invoicing.

Coordinate the use of Athletic logos working with the campus Licensing Partner, implementing changes as necessary.

Supervise department that includes hourly staff, student workers, student assistants and student interns to work athletic/home events and make sure all are serving the mission of York College and York Athletics.

Coordinate all media affairs within the athletic department, which includes but is not limited to recruiting material, game programs, game day apps, and year in review publications.

Update and maintain the social media pages and athletic department webpage ( with feature articles, team/coach/player achievements, and other relevant information. Prepare wide-spread news releases and develop content for “The Cardinals Spotlight.”

Manage photography and video services including the technical components of set-up of all live stats and video broadcasts of home events (YouTube streaming) .

Maintain and update all historical record book information. Work in coordination with NCAA and City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) rules and regulations in reporting all statistical information.

Assist with all special events (e.g., Homecoming, Tip-Off, Midnight Madness, Sports Hall of Fame, Golf Outing and Athletic Department Banquet preparations and day of activities for video, sound, and photography.

Serve as in-game public address announcer when needed.


Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

In addition to the above, the following qualifications are strongly preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business management, marketing, communications or other appropriate disciplines.

At least four (4) years’ experience at the collegiate or professional level

Master’s Degree and supervisory experience

Must have extensive knowledge of sports and statistical record keeping in addition to working knowledge of NCAA guidelines for media relations.

Must be proficient in StatCrew and Sideline Sports or similar website provider.

Must possess excellent communication skills including strong writing capabilities for various platforms such as social media, game programs and recaps, etc.

Must be able to multi-task and work in a high-speed environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Social media platforms and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and web editing software.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.


Administers one or more aspects of a College athletics program.

Coordinates development and implementation of information and marketing materials, such as web sites

Coordinates recreation and intramural programs in support of wellness activities

Organizes, coordinates, and manages intramural and varsity sports events

Compiles and reports on statistics for NCAA and CUNY requirements; compiles reports on programs and activities

Coordinates scheduling of facilities and programs

Assists management with planning and oversight of various athletics activities

Performs related duties as assigned.
