Position Summary

The Outreach Coordinator supports the mission and services of the Career Development Center by assisting in campus outreach, resource development, event coordination, and research.

This position provides students with an opportunity to develop career readiness skills in:

It will also allow students the opportunity to gain experience in:

• Research and data analysis

• Implementing marketing strategies

• Social media, print and web development

• Event planning and coordination

• Networking with employers and alumni

• Engaging in personal career exploration and development

Position Duties

1. Training/Meetings

a. Participate in training during the first two weeks of fall term, in addition to regularly scheduled meetings through the fall, winter, and spring terms

2. Research

a. Design survey instruments, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports regarding student participation in internships, employment and post-graduate plans

b. Facilitate student focus groups on various topics

c. Research career related topics to post and develop resources for students

3. Campus Outreach

a. Schedule, reserve and staff outreach table in Tykeson Hall and Beaver Dam

b. Perform outreach in classrooms and to student clubs to market events and services

c. Create marketing materials to hang up around campus that showcase special programs and events

d. Share information about new job and internship opportunities in Handshake

e. Guide peers through the use of Handshake and additional job search resources

f. Navigate the Career Development Center website to share resources based on student interest and need

g. Refer students to professional staff members when appropriate

4. Digital and Online Content Management

a. Regularly update and post resources, services, events and

opportunities for students on Career Development Center website,

Facebook and Instagram following University policies and standards

b. Research additional social media platforms and make recommendations for additional use

5. Event Coordination

a. Collaborate with Career Development Coordinator and Internship and Employment Coordinator to plan, organize and staff office

events including Career Crawls, Opportunity Fairs and Information Sessions

6. Write Interest Stories

a. Facilitate informational interviews with alumni and professionals

b. Interview current students regarding internship and employment experiences across academic programs

c. Write interest stories to be posted on the website

d. Collaborate with University photographer to obtain images of subjects

7. Additional Responsibilities

a. Participate as a student in Career Development Center programs and events

b. Additional projects based on Outreach Coordinator interest or student body need

Student enrolled in 6 (six) credit hours or more at

and in good academic standing

Completed or currently enrolled in BA 390: Marketing

Self-starter who shows motivation and initiative

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficiency with use of social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)

Dependable and reliable

Positive attitude!

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Interest and/or experience in marketing and/or public relations

Experience with social media marketing

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
