A marketing executive in the marketing department works in various functional areas like sales, advertising, promotion, product development etc. The responsibilities of a marketing executive depend on the size of a company. If it is a small organization, the marketing executive is held responsible for multiple tasks. In case of a large organization, marketing executives are given a specific job. Typically, a marketing executive will need to fulfill the following responsibilities:
  • Contacting prospective clients and customers and creating long lasting relationships with them.
  • Developing advertisement campaigns for the promotion of the products and services of the company.
  • Procuring and managing marketing material like posters, leaflets etc.
  • Carrying out market research to gather information about potential customers and the demand trend in the market.
  • Maintaining contact with media persons and writing and distributing press releases if required.
  • Achieving sales targets set by the company.
  • Offer support to marketing managers and assist them in their job.
  • Planning and maintaining marketing budget.
  • Developing marketing plans and strategies.
  • Analyzing and monitoring marketing activities of competitors.
  • Maintaining and updating research reports.
  • Arrange for effective distribution of products and services at competitive prices.
Skills required for marketing executive jobs: A marketing executive must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management or marketing. Good communication skills are an added advantage for marketing executives. Marketing executives must possess interpersonal and analytical skills. They must be creative enough to develop successful marketing strategies. Marketing executive jobs require the candidate to be able to work as a part of a team and have the ability to influence people. In addition, computer literacy is one of the most important requirements for such jobs.

Though companies hire people who do not have any experience in the field of marketing, prior experience always helps. In addition, people with a previous marketing experience are offered a better compensation package.

Training for marketing executive jobs

Although the people who work as marketing executives are well qualified and have the necessary skills, training is essential for them to understand the concepts of marketing. Companies hiring people for marketing executive jobs usually provide in house training. Marketing executives may even take up short courses for professional development.

Salaries for marketing executive jobs vary depending upon the level in the organization and type of job profile. Entry level or junior level marketing jobs are offered less salaries as compared to senior level marketing executive jobs.

Marketing executive jobs are challenging and exciting and require the marketing executives to be competent enough to increase the sales and turnover of a company.
