Valassis to Launch a New Consumer Marketing Brand

Valassis Communications Inc. is set to launch a new consumer marketing brand in January called RedPlum. RedPlum will combine various Valassis advertising vehicles, such as direct mail, newspaper coupon inserts, Polybags, and the Internet. "The launch of the RedPlum brand is a natural next step for Valassis following its acquisition earlier this year of ADVO, the nation's largest direct mail media company," said Suzie Brown, Valassis chief marketing officer. Valassis will retire its ShopWise brand with the launch of RedPlum. Valassis is also scheduled to inaugurate redplum.com on January 3, 2008. The website aims to offer value, savings, and special deals in various categories, including groceries, beauty, travel, electronics, home, and entertainment. Consumers can navigate the site by entering their ZIP codes and do not need to register to print coupons.
