U.S. Consumers Wired: Reports a New Media Survey
Date: 1-1-2008
About 38% of U.S. consumers are watching TV shows online; 36% use their cell phones for entertainment; and 45% are creating websites, music, videos, and blogs, according to a survey from Deloitte & Touche. Deloitte provided the prerelease data from its "State of the Media Democracy" report to The Hollywood Reporter and has scheduled to launch it next month officially. Among the key findings, use of cell phones as entertainment devices saw a staggering 50% increase in eight months since Deloitte's first edition of the survey. Among those surveyed, 85% still consider TV advertising to have the most impact on their buying decisions, followed by online advertising (65%) and magazine advertising (63%).
