TNS Forecasts 4.2% Growth in 2008 U.S. Ad Spending

Date: 01-09-2008

TNS Media Intelligence has predicted a 4.2% increase in the U.S. ad spending this year. According to their recent forecast, the ad spending will increase by 3.6% during the first six months, and 4.7% during the second half of the year. Internet advertising is expected to show the biggest growth, an increase of 14.4% from 2007, followed by Spot TV (9.9%), Spanish Language Media (7.8%), Outdoor (5.5%), and Cable Network TV (5%). ''Aside from the continued double digit growth rate of Internet display advertising, spending gains will be driven predominately by the powerful combination of Summer Olympics and record-setting levels of political advertising,'' said Jon Swallen, SVP Research of TNS Media Intelligence.
