Google was named the top brand and the best parent company for a website in terms of its ability to reach an online audience, according to data compiled by Nielsen Online for the month of January. Microsoft was a close second and Yahoo! third on the list of best parent companies, but Yahoo! managed to edge out Microsoft in the best brands category to finish second for the month. Time Warner, eBay, and News Corp. Online also featured among the top 10 parent companies, while MSN and AOL were the notable names in the top 10 brands category. NexTag Inc. was ranked number one on the best advertisers list (on the basis of estimated spending), according to Nielsen Online’s advertising research service, AdRelevance. Experian Group Limited and Netflix Inc. followed NexTag Inc. among the list of top 10 advertisers for the month.
