Electronic Arts (EA) and Starz Media have agreed to a deal in which an animated feature prequel to the yet-to-be-released video game “Dead Space” will be made. The dark, sci-fi horror comic game and the film are supposed to be released around Halloween 2008. The film is being developed by Film Roman, a progeny of Starz Media. It will be based on the same comic series by Image Comics upon which the game is based. “We’re really looking for this to be an event,” said Scott Greenberg, COO of Film Roman. “We feel we’ll attract the hardcore gamer, but we’ll also get sci-fi and animation fans as well.” EA and Starz are also reportedly working on two other animated films based on new EA video games in development.
