The employment industry is constantly evolving as recruiters become more and more particular on the type of person that they want for a specific job and the skills that the person will need to have in order to even be considered for an interview. This makes job positions very competitive and thus much more difficult for persons looking for employment. Even retail marketing jobs have not escaped these new demands on the job seeker.

One need only look a little more closely at retail marketing jobs to see that what employers require of marketers today is not the same as what was traditionally expected from these positions. One is expected to have an all rounded business skill set that makes the marketer capable of fulfilling more roles than just marketing. It is no longer enough to just have a degree in marketing or other relevant discipline. It is even not enough to have the experience to go with it. Nowadays, one must be able to sell themselves through their resume and cover letter in a way that positions them as the perfect match for the job.

And this is where the role of a marketing recruiter comes into play. Despite the title, a marketing recruiter will often work with people across several disciplines even though many marketing recruiters have strong leaning towards assisting candidates for retail marketing jobs. The recruiter acts as an intermediary between marketing professionals either looking for their first job or seeking a move to a new company, and the companies that are looking for marketers.

The recruiter's role involves a number of things. For instance, ordinarily persons looking for retail marketing jobs on their own would have to filter through thousands of job placements online and on print to find the ones that fit what they are looking for. A recruiter can change all of that for you. Once you retain their services, they will quickly be able to assess your skills and make sure that those are all penned down in you CV.

After this is done, the recruiter will then start to match you with positions that are suited to your specific skills and personality type and inform you of positive response and any interviews lined up potential employers.

The marketing recruiter cannot guarantee interviews or placements and most will always be careful to make sure one understands that from the onset. What they can guarantee is exposure and access to their database of open positions with good employers. The recruiter forwards your CV as well as a summary report that was compiled after your interview, to the employer who will then decide whether they would be interested in an interview with you.

As the recruiter works for commission, which is not earned if there is no placement, you can be rest assured that they will do their best to sell you and your skills to the employer. So if you are not already registered with a recruiter, now might be a good time to do so.
